2015 has definitely been kind to me.
This is the year I met Harrison, my son, my rainbow, my WORLD!
It already feels like there was never a time without him. Thinking back to before feels like looking at an abstract painting. To say that he has changed my life wouldn't be accurate, he has made my life! Every second is now full of excitement, possibility and love. I have enjoyed every one of those seconds and cherished them as such.
I'll be returning to work in the New Year and am, admittedly, not looking forward to leaving Harrison for those 8 hours a day. I am, however, lucky that my husband will be able to stay home to look after Harrison. It will be amazing for my boys to spend such quality time together, and, I know, this will be a positive for them both.
We are so lucky to be able to do this, and that is, in no small part, because of Eventual Mother; because of all of YOU. For that, I cannot thank you enough.
This is the year I started a blog, which quickly turned in to a family venture of sharing, and talking about, our lives and passions, things we have faced, and things we have overcome. It's been a year of writing, of video editing (oh so much video editing). It's been a year of sharing stories and inspiration from Other Mothers, of sharing anecdotes of family life (the good, the bad, and the down right gross - still traumatised from Harrison being sick in my mouth), of sharing things that made us laugh, cry, and go 'AAAAAWWWWWWWW!' - and I've loved every bit.
I never imagined that Eventual Mother would grow as it has and become what it has become, but I've loved seeing it happen, and I've loved getting to know you all.
A HUUUUUGE thank you to my readers, viewers, followers, likers, and sharers. You are all incredible. I only wish I could translate this to the languages that you all read in the 100+ countries you all reside (I'm hoping google translate will cover this). It still blows my mind that you take the time to visit my little patch of Internet.
Another HUUUUUGE thank you to the fabulous companies we have had the pleasure of working with this year. Who have helped us bring you reviews, discounts, and suggestions for baby (and parent) shopping. With some special shout outs to the wonderful Babi Pur, Gecko, Sarah Lovell Art, and GiGG'L, who we fell in love with in 2015.
So what have we accomplished this year?...
- Breastfeeding, for almost a year
- Cloth nappying, exclusively from a couple of months old (part time before that)
- Baby wearing, from the day he was born, he was worn. We used the pram as well during the early days when I was relearning to walk, but have been exclusively baby wearing since he was 2.5 months old. With the exception of using his fab Buggypod Perle that we attached to his pram, giving us storage space in the pram and a cool throne on wheels for H.
- Launched Eventual Mother, and loved every second that followed
- Donated breast milk, and have a lady I can continue to donate to on a regular basis
- and, most importantly, BECAME A MOTHER! What a spectacular privilege.
And, for 2016?...
- KEEP GOING!
- Celebrate Harrison's birthday with a bang
- Keep on breastfeeding until he is at least 2
- Keep on using cloth nappies and wipes
- Keep on baby wearing
- Keep on advocating all the things we love
- Keep on reviewing fabulous things
- Keep on enjoying every second of this beautiful life.
- Oh, and MOVE! Our website, that is, to a beautiful new hosting service (in all its finery).
I can't wait to share 2016 with you all.
So much love,
Siobhàn, the Eventual Mother.
